The Isaiah Connection Prayer Guides

Believing that prayer honors God, blesses His people, moves His hand to deliver from scourges of Satan, and benefits those for whom we pray;  I hereby commit myself to pray specifically and faithfully for my nation, my church and its leaders, and for the Lord's work being done through the Isaiah Connection for one-half hour each week.

Spiritual Outpouring – April 24, 2008

“In the midst of . . . global trauma and bloody persecution, the Holy Spirit is going to be poured
out again and again on the faithful, confessing church of Christ,
and she will burn with passion and shine with the truth . . .” – John Piper

Scripture:
“ . . . I will pour out my Spirit . . .” (Acts 2:17, NIV).

Prayer: Lord, empty us of sin and fill us with Your Spirit until we burn with
passionate love for You and shine with the truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thursday, April 24 Entreat the Lord to grant us understanding of how fatal it is for us not to know the day and age we live in. Ask the Lord to help us understand the events of our day from His perspective and to help understand how critical repentance is.
“. . . You know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape” (1 Thess. 5:2-3, NIV).
Friday, April 25 – Cry out for God’s grace to help us understand that we can be horribly disoriented to God’s activity and can be looking forward to something joyous rather than what He has proclaimed to be the truth. Ask God to revive us and fill us with His Spirit that we may be prepared for what we may have to endure.
For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened” (Matt. 24:21-22, NIV).
Saturday, April 26 – Ask God to pour out His Spirit to revive and clothe us with Holy Spirit granted passion, zeal, and prophetic witness in the day of calamity, bloodshed, sinful corruption, and unsurpassed tragedy.
I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great . . . day of the Lord” (Acts 2:19-20, NIV).
Sunday, April 27 – Beg God to help us understand that there will be large scale apostasy right before Christ returns. Ask Him to light our candle that we would have extraordinary devotion and love for Jesus so that in the face of persecution we would be bold witnesses of Jesus.
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matt. 24:12-14, NIV).
Monday, April 28 – Thank God that both in the Bible and history He has left us the witness that He has poured out His Spirit again and again until the Gospel was carried throughout the earth. Ask Him to pour out His Spirit afresh on His faithful believers that His fullness would possess our hearts.
“In the last days, God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy’” (Acts 2:17-18, NIV).
Tuesday, April 29 – Beg God to pour out His Spirit to sanctify us that we would have a holy character with unswerving commitment to Christ and His cause.
“. . . I will pour out my Spirit on all people” (Acts 2:17, NIV).

Wednesday, April 30 – Plead with God to pour out His Spirit and empower our witness to be strong in the face of persecution and opposition.
“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matt. 24:14, NIV).
